Anaheim Public Utilities has supported more than 3,500 customers installing solar since the early 2000s.These residential and commercial systems total almost 35 megawatts (MW) of clean renewable energy, producing more than 50,000,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) annually, which equates to a reduction of 35,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.
The success of solar installations in California has led to an overproduction of solar energy in the middle of the day. However, pairing solar with energy storage systems can help reduce grid demand by shifting solar energy to the early evening peak hours. Additionally, energy storage can increase your energy bill credit in NEM 2.0 and we have an
energy storage rebate offer.
Net Energy Metering (NEM) policies set terms for electricity that you export to the grid. We currently have retail net metering (NEM 1.0) available for all new solar PV systems installed and signed off by Building and Safety on December 31, 2020 or prior. Starting January 1, 2021, we will only have NEM 2.0 available for all new systems installed or new account holders on existing solar.
